We'll head out to find what we notice is changing as we approach the autumn equinox and say goodbye to summer! We'll also look at how our hickory horned devil caterpillars are changing...
Wear good shoes and come scavenge the forest for the best materials to build a special home for the bugs of your choice!
*geared towards younger children* We will read The Lorax and talk about how we can use our voices to speak for the trees, what we like about trees, what they do for us, and how we can be friends to them! There will be crafts and some snacks/baked goods as well.
Meet at the bridge in Brushy Fork (map here: https://forestryoutreach.berea.edu/trails/brushy-fork/) for a fun, friendly competition to see who can find the biggest, oldest trees in the forest! More info to come soon, watch for the event on Facebook.
We will learn about the fun fungi we have here in Berea and what fungi does for us and the ecosystem! We'll go on a walk to see if we can spot any mushrooms, then learn about their anatomy and make our own with arts & crafts! *cancelled in the case of rain*
Join us in creating art inspired by nature through paintings, music, salt dough impressions, and designing a terrarium. Please bring a CLEAR container with a LID to use for your terrarium (ex. 2 liter bottle, plastic or glass food jar, etc.)
