Become a Citizen Scientist!

Whether you’re a casual birder, interested in wildflowers, or general wildlife lover, you can help us learn more about our forest’s ecosystem with just a photo.

iNaturalist.org is a platform where people around the world can upload photos of wildlife they observe. When you upload a photo, iNaturalist immediately suggests an identification for what you saw, so you can learn identification. Through your account, you will be able to keep a running list of all of the species of wildlife you see. Then, through this, scientists from around the world can use your observations in learning or research.

If you are visiting any Berea College managed land (The Pinnacles, Brushy Fork/campus, Anglin Falls, Owsley Fork Reservoir), your observations will automatically be added to “Biodiversity of the Berea College Forest”, our iNaturalist project!

With the help of over 800 people, we have documented over 3,700 species with over 34,000 observations!
