In this Project Learning Tree activity, students have the chance to get active as they move from location to location throughout the activity. Each students takes on the role of carbon and moves through the activity as carbon might move through the various cycles of its life, getting burned, photosynthesizing, or being sequestered by trees among others. After completing the activity, students will be able to illustrate the carbon cycle, noting the various courses that the cycle might take. They will be able to explain the balance of the cycle and the importance of this balance, along with understanding some of the implications of releasing too much stored carbon.
