DESCRIPTION:Every being on Earth has a place and a right to life. We are all connected. Join us and the Art in Action team for Rat Appreciation Day on March 29th\, 2:00-4:00pm at the Hafer-Gibson building. This is a celebration for World Rat Day (April 4th) as well as to acknowledge and shift perspective on critters that have a bad reputation. There’s something for all ages\, and the event is FREE. \nActivities include: \n\n\n-Rat themed crafts \n\n\n-Giant cardboard mazes \n\n\n-Scavenger hunt \n\n\n-Snake meet & greet \n\n\n-“Pest” control info \n\n\n-Short presentations on native rats and anthrozoology (the relationship between humans and animals) at 2:45pm \n-Rat themed trivia 3:15pm \n-Rat Fight Robotics Club\, their rat mascot & their aluminum can crushing robot! \n\nRat Fight is an FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) team dedicated to teaching robotics to high school students in the Madison County area. Berea College students and industry professionals mentor these students\, guiding them through the engineering\, programming\, and teamwork skills needed to succeed in competitive robotics. Each year\, teams receive a brand-new game challenge and have just eight weeks to design\, build\, and program a robot from scratch. DESCRIPTION:Join in on a decades long global citizen science project. All it takes is 15 minutes a day from February 13th through February 16th. \nUsing the apps/websites Merlin and eBird\, you’ll record the types and number of birds you see during your observation windows on those days. You can observe in your own backyard\, go to a park\, or join us here in the lower forest at the Pinnacles! \nWe will meet at the Center at 9:15am to start observations shortly after. Come one day or all four–all observations help scientists worldwide study bird populations. \nLearn more about the GBBC on their website! \nAll ages are welcome. Using your own phone/app is optimal but not required\, you can just join in on the birdwatching!

DESCRIPTION:Back by request!! Join Madison County Public Library and the Berea College Forestry Outreach Center for a family friendly open mic night on Tuesday September 9th.\n*Sign ups will start at 5:00pm\, followed by some performing tips and exercises before the performances start. The library will help kids prepare and go over the basics of public speaking before they take the stage to show case their creativity!\n*There will be a pop-up library should anyone be struck with inspiration and want to show off their reading skills.\n*All kids\, families\, and skill levels are welcome! This is a fun event to celebrate all different types of creativity in Berea.\n*There is no electricity\, but the acoustics from the stage are great!\n*Feel free to bring a stadium seat or camp chairs as the amphitheater is stone.\nThe amphitheater is located right before you embark on your hike to the Pinnacles\, look for the big flag that says “Pop-Up Library.”\nRestrooms are available at the Forestry Outreach Center building by the parking lot. The restrooms by the amphitheater will NOT be open.\nWe will have some light refreshments.\nIn the event of inclement weather\, this event will be rescheduled.
